Can' believe there is not AUD of this show.
This was our, Diane my wife and I, first show back in the Mid-Altalntic states after having spent 18 months in Conn. Saw 1 as Nassau 5/8/81 which I tought
...
was very decent. and New Haven 5/12/81 which was another good one. Saw Springfield 9/3/80 and some others that I can't think of now. About this show. I could hear Jack Straw every show and never tire of it, as with China->Rider. but over all this was not great. Especially reviewing after becoming a better reviewer than then. I was able to cop a full flac/shn download of this before they changed the water. So I'm very glad for that.

A Real Sleeper...
...and NOT in a good way. Of the three shows of the "pre-Europe mini-tour" (Lehigh->Buffalo->Landover), this was by far the weakest. Maybe it suffered
...
in comparison to the previous evening's mind-melting extravaganza, but one image said it all for me. We were seated up behind the stage, and during the 2nd set closer, Good Lovin', a woman in the front row was doing her nails and looking absolutely bored. I thought to myself at the time, "Yeah-that's just about right." Making matters worse, I had called up my roommate after the Buffalo show, bathed in the afterglow and still shimmering, and insisted she meet up with us at Cap Centre. We'd done Lehigh together, but I went on to Buffalo with other friends while she went back to New Paltz. So when I called her at 3AM Sunday morning and told her to hit the road posthaste, she asked where the hell Landover was. The best I could do at the time was to offer the suggestion, "Just go to Baltimore and turn left." She managed to get there, but she most definitely wasn't so glad she made it...
yea---bus came by. my first show---all a complete blur of reefer smoke--natch! love the spanish jam here also although at the time i had no conception
...

The quality of this recording is excellent. You are able to here some great detail. All in all a fairly even performance. Add it to the collection.

my first show
This was a surreal experience. I was feeling pretty strange before I ever went in. The shows I had been to before this one were punk shows and I was struck
...
by the difference in the vibe. Listening back I am lucky to have seen such a wonderful show right out of the blocks. The show is solid and well played. I remember thinking that the truckin' seemed awfully long and thought the spainish jam was the coolest riff ever. Check it out.

Magic Second Set
I have a beautiful reel-to-reel of this show, the last show I went to before meeting my wife. The first set was nothing special until "Saint of Circumstance"
...
which is absolutely perfect, as is every note of the second set. I sat behind the stage looking down all night and just had a blast!
